Why JPII?
Pope St. John Paul II was chosen to be the patron of the college because of his love for youth and his desire to bring the love of Christ to the whole world. Driven by his pastoral solicitude for all Churches and by a sense of openness and charity to the entire human race, John Paul II exercised the Petrine ministry with a tireless missionary spirit, dedicating to it all his energy.

John Paul II celebrated Mass in Belize on March 9, 1983. By praying with Anglican, Mennonite and other non-Catholic Christians, John Paul II reminded our new nation of the unity that Christ brings to all Christians. John Paul II also proclaimed, “God’s design for a world where justice, freedom and mutual respect are the authentic expression of a civilization of love.”
Pope John Paul II passed away on Divine Mercy Sunday in 2005. He was canonized on April 27, 2014. His feast day is celebrated on October 22.
