Featured Donor: Nitya Mathew

Nitya Mathew was a volunteer teacher at JPII in the 2017 - 18 year, teaching Geometry and Creative Writing while befriending all the students and inviting them deeper into the Faith as an energetic Campus Minister. She has chosen to continue to support the school from afar. Nitya’s family comes from the fascinating Malabar region of India where Christianity has been practiced since the coming of St. Thomas the apostle.

Nitya grew up in California, and worked in IT before coming to volunteer at JPII. She came to Belize very much marked by her experience in Jesus Youth, a pontifically recognized Catholic movement at the service of the church started by other Indian Catholics. As campus minister, she initiated the first praise nights, which have now become a popular and well known ministry both to students and numerous others from the high school and beyond. Nitya now resides in Florida. Thank you, Nitya, for remembering JPII and supporting us!
